CTA Foundation Pitch Competition
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) Foundation hosted its annual CTA Foundation Pitch Competition at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 10, 2024. The Patient Safety Technology Challenge, with funding from the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative, served as a sponsor and provided a prize of $2,000 to Proxie Health Inc. for the best tech-enabled patient safety solution.
Proxie Health is a telecare platform that aims to give providers data they need and help families manage home care using human expertise and AI. Team members include Tatiana Carrett, Fritz Desir, and Eric Bruno.
According to team member Fritz Desir, “We were inspired by our own experiences as caregivers to our parents. Proxie Health is designed to help caregivers, who are typically responsible for managing their loved one’s medical care and social needs, but lack the time, resources or knowledge to navigate the complex US healthcare system.”
Desir continued by explaining how Proxie does this, “We use machine learning/AI and human expertise (“collective intelligence”) to build, activate and optimize at home care plans for caregivers while increasing data visibility for healthcare teams. Proxie uses human expertise via Proxie Care Agents to navigate the healthcare system and execute care plans. An at-home care plan is all the medical, social and mental health “action item to-do tasks” as recommended by the care recipient’s healthcare provider. Proxie then leverages machine learning, AI, and data analytics to aggregate, analyze, and manage care plan data obtained from healthcare providers to proactively predict care needs progressively across the lifespan, resulting in better care outcomes for seniors.”
Lance Baily, Patient Safety Technology Challenge advisory board member said, "As a representative of HealthySimulation.com and the Patient Safety Technology Competition, I was thrilled to announce Proxie Health as the Patient Safety winner of the CES Startup Competition. Their solution creates better tracking and education for family members of patients, improving the communication and understanding by families to assist in the care of their loved ones. Kudos to the team and we look forward to seeing more!"
The Patient Safety Technology Challenge is proud to support Proxie’s next steps.
